Golf Cart Tire Purchasing Information
Golf cart tires can be a tricky part to shop for, with such a variety of styles, sizes, and applications. Trying to figure out what tire you need can be confusing, and that’s why we have some insight to help you understand what you shopping for.
Golf Cart Tire Sizes
Most tire sizes are in the following format: 18×8-10. The first number, 18, is the full diameter of the tire – how tall it is in inches from top to bottom. The second number, 8, indicates how many inches wide it is. The last number, 10, is the size of the center of the tire – in other words, what size wheel will fit the tire. Therefore, an 18×8-10 tire is 18″ tall, 8″ wide, and can fit a 10″ wheel.
Another size format you may encounter is the automotive format, which looks like 205/50-10. In this case, the first number, 205, is the tread width in millimeters. The second number, 50, is the aspect ratio (the side-wall measurement), and the third number, 10, is the size of the wheel it can fit in inches.

Golf Cart Tire Treads
The sawtooth tread design has a wide flatter tread pattern, which is intended to make it turf-friend while still maintaining a smooth ride for passengers. These are the common tread designs used by golfers, street-legal drivers. For some for dual-use on-road and off-road we recommend all-terrains tires. For off-road tougher terrains shop off-road tires.
Many tires feature a directional tread, meaning they must be installed facing the right direction! The tread pattern on both driver and passenger sides should face the same direction. If they are installed facing the wrong direction you may have a rougher steering experience.

Golf Cart / Street
OEM and or close to OEM fitment. Provides a smooth ride road, cement, and turf with less chance of causing damage.

All Terrain
All-terrain tires have a split function design. The tires are engineered to provide versatile traction on or off-road. These allow for more comfort and control when you need it most!

Off-Road
Off-road tires are designed with a more aggressive tread to provide better traction on complex terrains you may find off-road. With a thicker tire and more height than OEM, these also provide a comfortable ride on or off the road!

What is a Golf Cart Tire Ply Rating?
The ply rating applies to the thickness of the tire, which informs you how durable the tire will be for various applications and terrains.
A 2-ply rated tire will provide a soft, responsive ride on larger wheel bases. 2-ply tires are ideal for golfers, and can be used for light to moderate off-road uses though with tougher terrains we do recommend a thicker ply rating to avoid punctures.
A 4-ply rated tire is a more durable and tougher tire, can absorb more impact and rougher terrains suitable for on-road and off-road uses.
6-ply rated tires are often used by extreme off-roading drivers and workmen because of the added durability these provide more protection and control in various situations common in regular work or off-roading environments.
